Layers: Description: Hydrogeomorphic Wetlands breaks down the classification of wetlands by Barrier-Protected, Lacustrine and Riverine. Hydrogeomorphic Wetlands are classified based on the following description below:Lacustrine: Wetlands which are controlled directly by water of the Great Lakes and are strongly affected by lake-level fluctuations, nearshore currents, seiches, and ice scour.Riverine: Wetlands which occur along and within rivers, creeks that flow into or between the Great LakesBarrier Protected: Wetlands which originate from either coastal or fluvial processes, but coastal nearshore and onshore processes separated these wetlands from the Great Lakes by a barrier beach of other barrier feature.This data was provided by the Ministry of Northern Development, Mines, Natural Resources and Forestry (MNDMNRF).This feature was modified by Environment and Climate Change Canada on April 19th, 2021, and was projected/clipped to the needs of the 2021 Lake Ontario Canadian Baseline Coastal Habitat Survey.
