Description: This dataset has been generated by Ducks Unlimited Canada Southern Ontario Wetland Conversion Analysis, in March 2010. The Ducks Unlimited Canada pre-settlement wetland extent (c. 1800) is a predictive historic wetland dataset that identifies areas that are likely to have supported wetlands. The dataset was generated by combining OMAFRA County Soil Survey organic soils and poorly and very poorly drained mineral soils with OMNDM quaternary geology areas dominated by organic accumulation, then the portions that were unlikely to be wetland due to their topographic position were removed using the OMNR provincial DEM and a net balance groundwater flow surface derived from MRI-DARCY. Bottomland features were not included in this dataset. This feature was modified by Environment and Climate Change Canada on May 31st,2021, and was projected/clipped to the needs of the 2021 Lake Ontario Canadian Baseline Coastal Habitat Survey.
